Imports in the US get dearer for 50 Indian Products

Imports in the US

Imports in the US for 50 Indian products will no longer benefit as the US government has decided to revoke duty-free concessions. The product categories are mainly from the handloom and agriculture sectors. This decision has come as a major blow to Indian exporters from the Trump administration.

Although these products may no longer qualify for the duty-free concessions, the country will import these products. But, this will be subject to regular Most Favoured Nation duty rates. This ruling will be product specific and not country specific as mentioned by an official representative of the US Trade Representative.

Also, in the year 2017, India’s duty-free export to the United States alone was over USD 5.6 billion.
