Veteran Bollywood playback singer Mohammad Aziz passed away at the age of 64 on Tuesday evening. More details are pending.
Aziz, famous for his love for Mohammad Rafi, began his musical career in Kolkata and then came to Mumbai. He got his first big break with the film Mard, with “Mard Taangewala” the song, that starred Amitabh Bachchan. The reason for death will be clear after post-mortem, the hospital sources said. However, media reports claimed that he died of cardiac arrest.
Aziz, who has over 20,000 songs to his credit, has sung in Bollywood, Bengali and Odia films. He’s recorded several devotional Bhajans and Sufi songs Too. He also made his film debut with the Bengali film,’Jyoti’. Later he got a break when music director Anu Malik let him sing the song ‘Mard Taangewala’ for the Bachchan starrer ‘Mard’. He has done playback for celebrities such as Bachchan, Govinda, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and several others.
