In the procedure, a social message can be embedded in the narrative, as characters are created to say that people spend more time with their phones than with their nearest and dearest.
There are some hilarious scenes featuring Rajinikanth. In 1 scene, he takes a dig at other superstars that claim to be number one, that has his fans hooting and clapping. The movie brings the flamboyant style of Rajinikanth, which was missing in his recent releases.
But, the real star of the film is its own VFX and special effects. The intention of the movie seems to be just to create an Indian equivalent of a Hollywood super-hero sci-fi action fantasy thriller. Almost 50 percent of the movie contains stunning visual effects and continues to be taken using 3D format. It has to be watched in 3D to get a satisfying viewing experience.
The story begins where Enthiran finished. The movie begins with an old guy hanging from a mobile tower in a deserted field. Soon, the people in the city find their cell phones fly out of the hands and vanish into thin air. Mobile phone towers are ruined by several”unknown incidents.” As fear and insanity envelope the city, the government calls in Vaseegaran to investigate the mysterious phenomena. And soon, a giant bird, with feathers composed of mobile phones, attacks the town and the military can’t stop it. Vaseegaran is requested by a minister to deliver back Chitti, the dismantled innovative robot to counter the”fifth force” Rajinikanth holds the film together and is there virtually in each scene, possibly as scientist Vaseegaran, evil Chitty, great Chitty (2.0 version) and Kutty Chitti (3.0 version). Akshay Kumar, compared, makes his first appearance as the mighty Pakshi Raja (Bird King) at period point. He’s more display space from the second half, playing the antagonist and perfect foil to Rajinikanth’s superhero.
Vaseegaran is helped by his own robots Chitti 2.0 version and the retrieved old Chitti. In a flashback, it is shown that Pakshi Raja was the older guy who committed suicide on the mobile tower. He had been an ornithologist who loved sparrows and other rare birds, which utilized to migrate thousands of kilometers during winter to visit Vedanthangal bird sanctuary. But because of a large number of mobile towers positioned even in marshlands and areas, the birds died due to radiation. Pakshi Raja wants vigilante justice against the men and women who use and control cellular phones and towers. The remainder of the movie revolves around how Vaseegaran and his team come to the rescue of these people, exactly like in any typical superhero Hollywood film.
On the downside, the story and treatment are pedestrian. In reality, it’s merely a direct sequel to the director’s Enthiran (Robot), although Shankar has denied it. Shankar, for a turn, has just one complete dance song, the hit number from AR Rahman –‘Enthira Logathu Sundariya’ which performs out just with the end credits. The battle in the orgasm between the giant robots reminds you of the actions scenes in the Transformers franchise. The movie works mostly because of Rajinikanth along with the wonderful 3D format, the nearest an Indian film has reached to Hollywood standards.
