#MeToo has an accelerated impact in the US

On the 15th May 2017, the phrase “Me too” was tweeted at around noon and was used 200,000 times at the end of the day and tweeted 500,000 times until October 16. On Facebook, in the first 24 hours, hashtags were used by over 4.7 million people in 12 million posts. The platform reported that 45% of users in the United States had a friend posted on that word.

Thousands of people responded with #Me too stories, some men like actor Terry Crews and James Van Der Beek responded with their own persecution and abusive experience while others have responded to their previous behavior in response to women #HowIWillChange

Feminist author Gloria Feldt stated in Time that many employers are being forced to change the response to #MeToo, for example, to monitor gender-based wage differences and to improve sexual harassment policy. Others have noted that there has been pressure on companies, specifically in the financial industry, to disclose diversity statistics.
