Ola Guardian is Ola’s newly launched real-time monitoring system for its passengers. This system has been launched as a safety measure for all its customers hitching rides through this aggregator. With serious concerns with regards to the safety of passengers brought in the limelight, there has been a call for installing a tracking system for passenger’s safety.
The Guardian is based on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning tools and expected to go active in the national capital and the state of Kolkata by the end of October. A system as this builds more faith in the service and customers can be at ease especially while traveling to deserted locations in the city and at late hours in the night or wee hours of the morning.
Currently, the monitoring system has been launched as a pilot in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Pune and will phase out in different cities eventually by the end of 2018. As a part of this system, it will enable tracking of any route deviations, unexpected and mid-way stops, analyzing ride indicators among others.
Ola’s safety response team will be responsible for monitoring the safety triggers that will get activated at the time of travel.
The response team will be reaching out to the passengers in case a discrepancy is reported like route diversions and so on. The company will be tracking all live trips of their customers through this monitoring system.
The company will also be working with the government of respective states to integrate the mapping of unsafe routes into the system to be able to make it foolproof.
