Google recently launched reCAPTCHA v3, it’s API that helps users detect abusive traffic on their websites. The latest API will return a score so admins can choose the most appropriate action for their website. This eliminates the CAPTCHA challenge that was prevalent in the previous APIs. reCAPTCHA is a CAPTCHA-like system which helps verify that a computer user is not a bot.
reCAPTCHA has been continuously evolving its technology. ReCAPTCHA v1 used a challenge of reading a text and typing into a box near it. V2 used multiple signals to determine whether a request came from a human or bot in a single click. ReCAPTCHA v3 brings a drastic change in how sites can test for human vs bot activities. It returns a score to tell you how suspicious an interaction is and eliminates the need to interrupt users with challenges. reCAPTCHA v3 runs adaptive risk analysis in the background. This alerts admins of suspicious traffic while delivering a frictionless experience on the site.
In reCAPTCHA v3, Google has introduced a new concept called ‘Action’. It is a tag that you as a website owner can use to define the key steps of your user journey. The company bids admins to add reCAPTCHA v3 to multiple pages. Because, it wont interrupt users which will help its adaptive risk analysis engine identify attackers’ pattern accurately. That is, by screening the activity across different pages on your website.
The reCAPTCHA v3 also comes with the flexibility to prevent spam and abuse in a personalized manner. ReCAPTCHA v3 provides you with a score that tells you how suspicious an interaction is. Know more on the Google reCAPTCHA Page.
